About Us

The Pine Valley Market, a Wilmington landmark, began when Lauren “Lolo” Shannon expanded the butcher shop to include a grill, catering services, wines, and gourmet items. The market is built on Shannon’s foundation, and for the last 20 years, has been a reflection of the culinary and entrepreneurial blend of owners Christi Ferretti and Kathy Webb.

Christi, a Florida native, spent many years in the catering business and as a personal chef in Orlando. Christi has been at home in the kitchen since she could walk. She credits her love for food and helpfulness to her Italian heritage. A graduate of the University of Central Florida, with a degree in Education, Christi enjoys sharing her knowledge of food and wine with customers and friends.

Kathy has a background in fine wines and experience being the former owner of a café in St. Petersburg, Florida. As a native of St. Petersburg, Kathy’s experience in the restaurant brings a unique blend of knowledge and experience with her commitment to quality. A native of Goldsboro and a UNCW Alum, Kathy has come home to Wilmington to continue her home-town tradition of excellent food and service.

Matt and Christyanna met in college at Virginia Tech. After graduation, they traveled and worked in restaurants from Blacksburg to San Francisco and San Diego to Wilmington. Both possess the entrepreneurial spirit and bring ideas, inspiration, and their own charm to Pine Valley Market.

In May of 2022, Matt and Christyanna Durand partnered with Christi & Kathy to lend their love of food culture and business savvy to the Market family. The four bring with them years of experience in the hospitality industry, and make the perfect pair!

Our entire team at Pine Valley Market shares a commitment to delivering the highest quality products and exceptional customer service. As we continue to grow with our community, we’re excited to expand beyond our original 3,000-square-foot South College Road location with the opening of our new restaurant near Wrightsville Beach. This new space features a full-service breakfast and lunch restaurant, a curated retail market, a full bar, and a private event space designed to bring people together. Alongside our beloved catering services and our locally and regionally sourced gourmet offerings, Pine Valley Market remains a place to gather, share smiles, and enjoy incredible food. Stop by either location and you’ll quickly feel like part of the family.

Awards & Community Involvement

Pine Valley Market is actively involved in the community we serve and consciously participate in supporting nearby businesses. We have helped different organizations such as World Central Kitchen, Nourish NC, Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, and Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington. Over the years, it has been humbling to have been recognized by various organizations. The Market has received Encore Magazine awards for Best Catering Service and Best Gourmet Store, Star News “Best of the Best:” awards for Best Catering and Best Deli, and Epicurean Evening (benefiting the Methodist Children’s Home) Best Appetizer, Best Entree, Best in Show Copper Kettle and People’s Choice awards. In 2021, Christi Ferretti was awarded the WILMA Woman to Watch in Business Award. Everyone at the Market is honored and grateful to be an active part of the local community. It’s no surprise that Pine Valley Market has become one of the most beloved places in Wilmington!
